My name is Kathy Polo and I'm a freelance graphic artist and storyteller. The two main objectives behind my work are: a) communication and conversion through design, and b) solidarity within communities. Whether that means capitalizing on the camaraderie and passion that inherently exist within sports leagues, or mobilizing efforts that speak directly to social causes, my ultimate goal is to create content that tells compelling stories and engages communities on a human level.

Puckoji is a mobile app that delivers a third-party keyboard extension to give you, you guessed it, hockey emojis! One hundred emojis were designed and created by me with the sole intention of being used to tweet during live games and moments, to bask in anticipation for game days amongst friends, and to, very simply, help grow the sport and enjoy the game of hockey.

Representing Equality in Professional Sports ("REPS") is a project devoted to driving the dialogue of gender equality within the hockey community by way of design and creative catalyst. Its sole purpose is to channel the collective voice of the community (fans, media, employees, etc.) in a designated "hub" on the web that will provide conceptual devices & educational tools to elicit change within and around gender equality, and offer a direct means of engagement through social media, through which the project will be mobilized.

You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.
